Boxed Drinking Love Bird Heat Engine Novelty Science Toy 1960’s Vintage

This is Novelty Science Toy called, Drinking Love Birds, once they start they can’t stop. The novelty is designed to hang on the edge of a glass of cold water  and when the beards head is wet it pivots backward and forwards dipping its beak in and out of the water.

The drinking bird was invented by Miles Sullivan, engineer at Bells Laboratories. The US patent was filed on 16 June 1946.
