Description

English wooden Papier Mache  table cabinet box with Brass Fittings. Often called a Ladies Cabinet as the box contains a lift up lid lined in blue silk with a pin cushion back and a compartment with divisions for sewing, vanity items and the doors open out  which contain 6 draws one with jewellery fittings for a watch, bracelet and broaches etc, lined in blue velvet and fawn silk.

The box is of wood construction  with applied Papier Mache decoration with oval cartouches on the doors and moulded decoration and feet. The box has been painted to imitate walnut inside and out with brass metal decoration to the outside.

 The internal 6 draws are Papier Mache with 2 full length and 4 half size. There is a key witch works the lift up lid and opening doors that all open and close well.

Condition

The outside imitation painted walnut finish has all shrunk and crazed and the metal is tarnished.

Odd little dent to edges.

 The inside sewing compartment has two missing lids.
